Feeding the fish
Continuing north, we came to Mae Hong Son city. We only stayed there long enough to eat, because we had so much to see. Past the city a ways we came to Tham Pla, which means "Fish Cave" (Tham=Cave, Pla=Fish). We were completely ignorant going there. We expected there to be a cave for people, but it turned out that there was only a river flowing out of a cliff, which is full of fish, and those sacred fish are fat from the food people drop right in front of their waiting mouths. Nobody is allowed to catch and eat them. There are numerous stories of bad luck befalling those who have eaten them in the past.

Feeding fish again
People there sell what looks like cat food, and kids are especially fascinated to watch the fish gobble up the pellets.
